What is a zero-waste bulk refillery?

A special sustainable spot where you can buy goods without all of the single-use plastic packaging! Market goods is offering package-free and bulk refill options for dozens of products we all consume regularly- home goods and body care. All you have to do is bring your containers- clean out your empty jars, take-out containers, bottles, or whatever your preferred vessel is, tare the weight of your container, and refill on any of our products available in bulk. The beauty of bulk is that you can buy as little or as much as you want which allows you to try new products or commit to your favorites! Cleaning products, body care products, and more, we got you covered, without the single-use plastic!

Why is package-free refilling important?

To eliminate single-use plastics! "But I can just recycle them" Unfortunately, the overwhelming majority of what we attempt to recycle, is not actually recycled here in the United States. The rest? It gets sent to the landfill. We get it, plastic is sometimes completely unavoidable. We are not perfect, but we are doing zero-waste imperfectly, and we invite you to do the same! Buying at a bulk refillery is simple: bring any container in, tare the weight (so you don’t pay for the weight of the container), fill it up, and then pay for only the product you are buying!

What bulk-refill products can I expect to find at Market Goods?

We offer a wide variety of home goods and body care products. In the home goods section, we have kitchen, bathroom, laundry, and cleaning products: cleaning sprays, scouring paste, toilet refreshers, dish soap, hand soap, laundry detergent, and more. In the body care section, we have skin care, hair care, and oral care products: toothpaste, body wash, moisturizers, deodorant, shampoos, conditioners, and more. And the best part is- these are ALL available for bulk refill so you bring your containers and buy what you want! What non-refillable products can I expect to find at Market Goods?

Also along the lines of home goods and body care, we are offering a large selection of single-use-plastic-free alternatives for everyday products. We encourage you to swap your paper towels, plastic baggies, and plastic toothbrushes for products such as nonpaper towels, Swedish dishcloths, reusable silicone baggies, beeswax wraps, bamboo toothbrushes, and more! Swapping is a slow process and a long-term investment for the planet. See where you create the most waste and then look into sustainable swaps for those items. We encourage you to ask staff what swaps will be best for your lifestyle!

What quality of products can I expect to find at Market Goods?

We are prioritizing local products where possible so be ready to see many Baltimore favorites in store! Our rule of thumb is the zero-waste version has to be as good, if not better, than what you are currently buying! Think naturally scented, non-toxic, vegan, cruelty-free, closed-loop and as local as possible. We are proud to offer high-quality products that are often more affordable in bulk refill than buying packaged!
